Internship, Employee Training Program (Summer 2025) at Augusta Health (W&L CBL)

  • Hours: Approximately 25 hours per week

Internship Overview

With a workforce exceeding 3,000, the Employee Training Program Intern at Augusta Health will coordinate basic optional Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL) training courses for Augusta Health employees. This role involves a variety of tasks, from developing marketing materials to organizing logistics and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the programs. This is a non-medical internship and does not require prior knowledge of Spanish or Sign Language.

Responsibility Include

  • Marketing and Promotion: Create marketing materials (e.g., flyers, posters, email announcements, intranet articles) to promote the training courses to Augusta Health employees. Develop compelling course descriptions highlighting the benefits of participation.
  • Assessment: Design and implement pre- and post-training surveys to assess employee expectations and needs to measure the effectiveness of the training programs. 
  • Instructor Collaboration: Liaise with instructors to schedule classes, confirm materials, and ensure smooth delivery of the training. Provide instructors with the necessary resources and support.
  • Logistics and Scheduling: Coordinate all logistical aspects of the training programs, including scheduling classes, booking venues (on-site or virtual), arranging for necessary equipment, and managing participant registration.
  • Participant Recruitment: Develop and implement strategies to recruit employees to participate in the training programs. This may involve outreach to different departments, presentations, and communication with employee groups.
  • Program Sustainability: Develop a plan for the long-term sustainability of the Spanish and ASL training courses. 
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support materials for the training programs, such as strategies for maintaining records, tracking participation, and preparing reports.

The outcome of this project will be ongoing ASL and Spanish course offerings for employees. Through this experience, students will acquire valuable experience in program development, coordination, and implementation. They will develop skills in marketing and communication and have the opportunity to network with professionals in the healthcare field. 

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in language learning is a plus.
  • Must have own transportation to travel to and from the Augusta facility.

 

Internship Structure

This internship is part of the Office of Community-Based Learning’s (CBL) internship program. As an intern, you will receive ongoing support from CBL staff and your on-site supervisor. You will also participate in weekly cohort meetings for training and reflection.

Although this is an unpaid internship, students are encouraged to apply for summer funding through the Career and Professional Development Office (applications typically due winter term) and the Johnson Opportunity Grant (applications due January or March). Please note that funding is limited and not guaranteed.
