2020-2021 Campus Kitchen Leadership Team

The mission of The Campus Kitchen at Washington and Lee (CKWL) is to use service as a way to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities. At CKWL we combat hunger and promote nutrition by recovering and reusing food that would otherwise go to waste into balanced meals for low-income members of the community in Rockbridge County. Volunteers also develop valuable relationships with clients.

We seek to educate our students through providing opportunities for leadership; engaging a distinctive population in our community; initiating nutrition programs in the community; promoting awareness of nutrition and hunger issues; and stimulating research on hunger. Although Campus Kitchen provides meals locally, its effort to educate students has national and global significance

The Campus Kitchen Leadership Team is the core group of students that are in charge of managing kitchen operations. Leaders coordinate volunteers, run recovery, cooking, and delivery shifts, and take part in strategic planning for the Campus Kitchen Organization. As a part of the Campus Kitchen Leadership Team you will have the opportunity to participate in topical discussions around topics of food systems and their affect on poverty, as well as hearing from influential speakers brought to campus.
